Danang boasts more theme parks than any other city it’s size in the world. One of the best theme parks is Ba Na Hills. This is a large area reserved for fun in the hills just outside Danang.
Ba Na Hills is a resort located in the mountains west of the city of Danang, Vietnam. The station was founded in 1919 by the French. The colonists had built a resort to be used as a leisure destination for French tourists. Being located above 1500 metres above sea level, it has a view of the East Sea and the surrounding mountains.
Due to the elevation of the resort, the temperature is significantly cooler than the warm environment near the coast. Linh Ung Pagoda is situated near the station, with a cable car span in the world nearby to carry tourists to and from the resort.
The cable car opened on 29 March 2013, holds the world record for longest non-stop single track cable car at 5,801 metres (19,032 ft) in length. Its latest tourist attraction is (C?u Vàng) Golden Bridge.
It could take an hour, maybe less, to reach the Entry of Ba Na Hills where you need to take a cable car to go up. To get a ticket, wait in line, and go up could take another 15 to 20 minutes when there is no line. It’s doable but I’d suggest spending more time up there if you are only going to visit it once. You can get a grab and then ask the driver to wait for you.
Some people say that going up to Ba Na Hills is like getting lost among clouds and fog. It can feel like all four seasons in one day: spring in the morning, summer at noon, autumn in the evening and winter at night. Most people think that Ba Na Hills is the most ideal destination for relaxation in this tropical paradise. Everybody has different feelings depended on various factors when reaching the summit of Ba Na Hills.
Ba Na Hills which is at an elevation of 1.482 meters above sea level and located about 30 kilometers northwest of the city, is an ancient mountain with a fairly flat summit. It is formed by various hard rock such as granite and basalt with red soil covering its slope. It is home to diverse and unique flora and fauna with many valuable timber species such as Vietnamese white pines, and rare animals such as crested argus pheasants, Asiatic black bears, yellow-cheeked crested gibbons, etc.
The resort was deserted after the 1948 August Revolution against French rule until early 1998. Then the Danang People’s Committee decided to turn the Ba Na Hills area into a large-scale ecotourism destination with a large complex of hotels, restaurants, conservation area. The 15 kilometers road from the foot to the summit of Ba Na Hills was asphalted, which made travel to the summit much easier. After the year 2000, Ba Na Hills has been awakened and it quickly regained the standing of one of the most popular tourism destinations of Danang city and the Central Coast.
Today, it is much easier for tourists to go up Ba Na Hills peak thanks to the cable car system, a big project conducted by the Ba Na Cable Car Service Joint Stock Company, including such items: The Ba Na Hills Cable Car line connecting An Loi with the peak of Vong Nguyet mountain, the technical area, the operating station and supplementary structures. The whole cable line consists of 22 pillars and 94 cabins, with the capacity of 1500 passengers/hour and the average speed of 6m/s.
The Ba Na Hills Cable Car system was officially inaugurated on march 25, 2009. At once, it set two Guiness World Records: the longest non-stop single track cable car with a total length of 5,042.62 meters and the highest non-stop cable car with the largest difference in height (1,291.81m) between the upper and lower stations. Bà Nà is really the mixture of misty and romantic features of creatures, the nostalgia of mossy tiled roofs and the human interference in the beauty.
Looking down to Danang from the top of Ba Na Hills, one feels above it all, and life far from the noisy urban areas.
The hill station is located at an elevation of 1,485 metres, 42 kilometres (26 mi) from Danang.
